Your Travel Hosts:
Nate & Heather

Ah, 2024…this is the year we decided to stay home, reminisce, and write about all the amazing places we’ve been! I’m a little behind…
It goes without saying, we love to travel. Nate and I are partners in life, partners in parenting, and partners in exploration. Nothing is more exciting than picking a new place to discover together, find amazing restaurants, booking tours, and taking in the local culture. We.Are.Addicted. It is our therapy. We are two parents who try to get out of our little bubble (Chicago Suburbs) as often as we can. Between baseball games, martial arts, basketball, parent-teacher conferences, doctor appointments, and full-time jobs (the grind, as we call it…), we somehow find time to plan & pursue new experiences, and I truly enjoy writing about it…it is a passion of mine.
This blog tells travel stories behind various trips, locations we’ve visited, places we’ve eaten, and notable excursions, as well as recommendations for people considering the same trip. Book your experience knowing we’ve been there, done that. Some trips are cheap (yaaassssss!!) and some trips aren’t (um….Iceland, anyone?? Wow. It is an unforgettable experience, but don’t expect a cheap dinner…anywhere.)
Why are staying home this year? Well, sometimes you need a break from the constant travel planning. Last year was a lot. Truthfully, it’s been a lot since 2018. We decided to travel all over the place and away we went. This year is a welcome pause. Breathing deep and writing is what I want to focus on. And, plan the perfect travel comeback for 2025!!
I also started a new job! January began with an incredible offer…the perfect way to start a brand new year. And although I have an OUTSTANDING vacation package with this company, I am staying put to focus on learning a brand new industry. Nate and I have work trips sprinkled throughout the year so that should tide us over for now. The unused vacation days are going to rollover making 2025 a spectacular travel experience.
Not only will I be writing about our past travel adventures, my family is big into worldly travel and they continue to book flights to amazing destinations. I’ll have quite a few places to write about this year from their travel perspective…I’m hearing Ireland and Japan are happening soon!
Although our 8 to 5’s keep us busy, we spend the evening hours cooking dinner, spending time with our kids (we have 4!), homework, sports, etc., and dreaming of our next excursion. Life is a balance, and for us, it is quality time with our family and friends (we love to go out!) with much-needed travel sprinkled in. Nate is a brilliant engineer with a BIG heart and a passion for german automobiles, and I am a marketing professional who loves to design, paint, cook, and create. A perfect evening at home involves a glass of Cab or Pinot Noir, and likely binge-watching The Office, Modern Family, or Schitts Creek (again).
We hope you enjoy reading our travel stories! Writing them is how I spend my weekend mornings…we hope that it simply inspires you to plan an adventure to a new place and perhaps utilize some of the travel tips and experiences we write about!
Regardless of whether you plan to travel or not, let’s all have one amazing journey this year! #2024
Bon Voyage!
